I have done a lot of testing, diagnosing and reporting over the last few days, both for the Huion Kamvas Pro 19 and the XpPen Artist Pro 19 (gen2) using only free/libre and open source software. :linux:Thanks to Benjamin Tissoires and @whot (but also José Expósito ) and the great udev-hid-bpf project, both models are now running very well. 🎉I'll now work on the blog posts and review videos (and a comparison).Xppen: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libevdev/udev-hid-bpf/-/issues/38Huion: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libevdev/udev-hid-bpf/-/issues/36#hardware #linux

@davidrevoy @whot What is the device on the left of your laptop? A few buttons and a dial?

@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org @whot@fosstodon.org hopefully support for huion and xp-pen devices on linux can be as well supported on linux as wacom devicesi've been sticking with an aging cintiq (its over 10 years old but still works, and i've stuck with it since i know it works on linux works better than it did on windows honestly) but i know eventually i'm gonna have to replace it, and i've been holding off on thinking about that out of uncertainty about whether or not a huion or xp-pen would work (i know there are drivers, but i'm less certain about them working... and if i'm spending hundreds of dollars on a screen tablet...) and a new wacom is way too expensive

@delta Unfortunately, the support for Huion and XpPen might never be for every models of their brand as long as they don't co-operate with kernel developers directly. They offer a proprietary driver for Linux (not good quality, afaik) and it's good enough for them. So, right now, they work on specific models where individuals from the community worked on them. But it is a good start and the list is growing.
