i have successfully managed to turn 'create a website' into 'write a database server' into 'write two different memory allocators'

im planning to clear out the entire address space and link all my code as a flat binary and write a new threading library and syscall interface and a slab allocator to mmap files with. for my website i mean

@domi if you map address 0 execute only you can store code there and use it as a null page at the same time

what stage of web development is it where you have to figure out how to implement aslr for a static flat binary

my thinking is i can compile the entire program to one assembly file, then when starting the program i reorder all the functions in .text and assemble it ahead of time. for extra brute force protection i can strip out the nop padding but that might cause Performance Issues

@multisn8 im not insane i just want my entire database server to be mapped into the address space of the client

@multisn8 well the code is only mapped once but likely at a fixed address and there is so much data you can map. the entire rest of the address space is reserved for stacks, tls, and the file map slab allocator, and my code has to manage that without some return-to-whatever or other attack

update this is still kind of stupid yeah. ill probably just figure out how i can put the code segment *inside* the slab allocator, so it can be at a harder to guess address
