As cool as the ability to communicate and game online is, it'll never be better than doing it in person. I miss LAN parties so much and now my only friend who still did them with me moved across the country :(

@beardalaxy Old school Smash Bros. and Mario Party reigns supreme in this regard. Even Halo split screen multiplayer. Nowadays, it’s just shallow Fortnite/CoD cop outs with micro-transactions, wokeness and AI shoved up everyone’s ass.

@beardalaxy I never got the chance to do it, except for one time my Dad had a bunch of a couple of old Macs from his workplace and we played this tank game called Bolo. None of my friends were PC gamers back in the early 2000s (probably the last gasp of LAN parties), and the few console games that did support them required some obscure accessory, multiple TVs, and an IT person to set it all up.I think even after the Internet went mainstream, LAN parties still had their place in workplaces or schools (some places were actually cool with it during downtime), but now every computer in those places has Active Directory or something like that installed.
