@Fragglemuppet The Dark Crystal is a more complex and sophisticated story. And it's more... cohesive. Labyrinth is deeply strange in all of the right ways but I think it says less. David Bowie is just David Bowie... which is great who wouldn't want David Bowie, but as story telling its a little muddled. Watching Dark Crystal as an adult blew me away. Watching Labyrinth drowned me in the best nostalgia.

@futurebird @Fragglemuppet This is spot on. But for reasons that have less to do with storytelling and more about mood perhaps, I enjoy Labyrinth more.

@futurebird @Fragglemuppet I think The Dark Crystal is the better movie - more solid storytelling, more depth to the world building, more complexity to the characters, more emotionally engaging and more emotionally satisfying. But maybe because Labyrinth is a simpler story, and has simpler, sillier elements (like the whole "Bog of Eternal Stench" conceit) I enjoy watching it more.I can't choose which one I like best!
