Every time I read the argument "but people on fedi and Bluesky are annoying" I'm asking myself why some people don't manage to curate their feeds.Blocking/Muting works on all major platforms. And, I dunno, I'd rather have some quirky people instead of right-wingers roaming around freely and algorithmic timelines putting that stuff into my face when I don't even want it.

@ada @pixel@desu.social The kind of person that justifies their twitter usage doesn't really seem like they overlap much with the kind of person who's willing to make effort to improve the space they inhabit.

@fen @pixel@desu.social i meant it more like i can sort of see how you can have a platform be annoying even if you curate your space, but then i realized i only really had 3 reply guys in my replies in two years of using fedi.and i love to troll them so it's not really annoying in the end

@fen @pixel@desu.social it do be a bit of a chicken and egg problem, moving platforms is basically moving to a new home. you know nobody.but someone has to start, and maybe people will follow.for me, i just lost my entire social sphere a month prior so i had nothing to lose really, but i believe this is the core of the reason why people are sticking to twitter and also why they refuse to change their decor.

@ada @fen I didn't lose my social sphere, but I made the decision to leave people "behind" and be more active over here, striving to find others to interact on here instead.I still have my Twitter account, but it's mostly for reading and conversations here and there.

@Sparky To be fair, it still works just fine. It prevents interactions and that's the key part.If you really wanted to see the posts of someone that blocked you, you just opened an incognito tab, and that barrier was removed. Not in favor of the decision, but it doesn't make that much of a difference.

@pixel@desu.social @fen@zoner.work a lot of people live in binaries, moving to fedi or bsky means leaving the other.

@ada @fen that's an interesting observation because people are for sure not using a single social media platform ever.So they are associating specific people to a purpose-specific platform. But the more Twitter breaks (I fear it will never go away fully), the more people need to realize that "the one platform" doesn't exist.

@pixel That sentence is funny because: what do they think the majority of the people used before? For fedi: Yes, there is a big difference as half the people (that see explore) use linux on a daily basis (https://social.vivaldi.net/@jon/113261043698639784)BSky: I think their CEO wants to have twitter back, with some editshttps://rys.io/en/167.html
