If neither candidate with a shot of winning a race has a good stance on an important issue the question is always: who would you rather negotiate with? If you have friends who are reticent about voting for this reason tell them how much you are looking forward to this election being in the past so that we can be critical of Democrats again without enabling something much worse. Let them know you won't leave them in the lurch on Nov. 6

Many people have pointed out how having the election reduced to just a few months has made things much less exhausting. Reducing the length of time we spend "in election season" also give more time for voters to lobby their elected officials without worrying about the other party. And it could help reduce all the money wasted on campaigning. Though really we also need public funding to fix this issue.

The phrase "get money out of politics" is very popular, and supported by nearly everyone. It gets lip service all across the spectrum. But, year on year there are always more ways for the wealthy to pour money into elections. More loopholes, more super PACs.The only politicians who take serious action on this are people like AOC ... people who are not benefiting from the present system. This is a hard nut to crack.

@futurebird I feel that people who I thought I would fight for justice alongside have mostly made the exception to Israeli injustice. I cannot trust them again. 💔Early voting begins here next week and I'm likely to leave the President and representative fields blank. The bloodlust of the people has horrified me to a breaking point.

Not so hard. Make it more difficult for the wealthy to amass so goddamned much money that they can spend ten billion dollars to make ten million effective. Go after patent protections and noncompetes and the piles of cash won’t get as high and it’ll be way more work for these scumbags to have influence.@futurebird

@futurebird Someone else used an analogy with buses. If you're going to a particular place, you take the bus that's going in roughly the right direction, even if it doesn't take you all the way. Refusing to vote is like waiting at the bus stop until they add a line with a stop exactly at your destination.

@futurebird Yes. The question is not "do I prefer Harris or Stein?" The question is "do I prefer Harris or Trump?" A vote for Stein sits out the election effectively, making it a vote for Trump. Don't throw the race. Vote Harris even if you abhor her positions.Because even if you abhor her positions, she's not a fascist. She won't overthrow democracy. She'll make it so we can have policy discussions later.

@futurebird all effort on campaignes is a waste if the votes are won by less % points than there is statistical noise in the system.it's a crok

@futurebird i feel like we could change that phrase to "get extreme wealth out of politics" and it would mean essentially the same thing. Also, it would suggest government policy that could finally solve the problem, which is this:get extreme wealth out of individuals.(i.e., no more billionaires, and tbh i feel like even 50 million is pushing it as the upper limit of wealth that an individual ought to be allowed to possess).
