#WritersCoffeeClub 18. Do you read scripts? Would you try writing a script or screenplay?I write prose—fiction and nonfiction. Scripts are a completely different format, usually with an emphasis on dialog: it'd be like learning how to walk again.I am 60 and have a sense of being short of time: I don't want a new side-quest. But if I was half my age I'd try it, just to expand my range. (IRL when I was 30 I had a cognitively demanding day job as well as my hobby ... writing fiction.)

@cstross You could adapt one of your earlier novels into a script, so you're not working from scratch.

@Lane Probably can't do that. (The natural prose fiction equivalent of a 2 hour film script is a 30K word novella: novels work best as a TV season. But my novels have too much interiorization, which is almost impossible to turn into a script.)
