Socrates is far more valuable to humanity than Muhammad, the islamic version of Jesus, the christian version of Jesus, or any figure from the Old Testament. This means that if you only have time to learn about one of these things, it should be Socrates.

Socrates offered philosophy, Jesus offers eternal life. Though philosophy is useful, it pales in comparison. I mean, you do you, but I know who I choose. In truth, though, there is nothing stopping anyone from reading both.

The christian version of Jesus offers the delusion of "eternal life". But why would you want this even if it was real? No normal, healthy person wants to live forever. Only cancer cells want to live forever.

It appears Jesus and Buddha were both heavily influenced by Socrates' Cynic philosophy. I've read the Bible and the Dialogues, and the Dialogues had a far more profound effect on me.
