@futurebird all, but I really only grudgingly tolerate the microwave for the purposes of cooking artichokes and corn.

@futurebird I have a multipurpose mini-oven that's much more convenient (and uses less energy) than the full-size oven. It has a toast function, so I selected "toaster oven" in the poll.

@futurebird Up until a few years ago, I had a tiny kitchen. So now that I have a little more space, I've bought all things: A microwave, kettle, and dishwasher, yes. Also an air fryer, a toaster, a bread maker, a slow cooker, a toasted sandwich maker, a rice cooker, and a food processor. Plus there was already a gas stove and an electric oven and grill.(I don't have a toaster oven because I don't need one.)

@futurebird I only technically have a kettle; my coffee maker is the fancy sort with a good hot water system so we mostly use that. The kettle is stored for when the Ninja breaks.

@futurebird we have a microwave and a dishwasher (the latter is currently broken), which came with the flat. If we hadn't been gifted a stovetop kettle, I'd have bought an electric one. We do have a rice cooker and a toaster as well, which both see considerable use.

@futurebird We got our electric kettle as a housewarming present. Neither of us had had one before, and we didn't use it a lot, but ever since our coffee maker died we've been using the kettle with a French press. We also have no big oven in the kitchen since getting rid of our gas stove, so the combo toaster oven/air fryer is our go to for making frittata, chili shrimp, 11” pizzas, small batches of muffins....

@futurebird Outside the scope of the poll, but in addition to the microwave, we also have an air fryer (basically a convection oven) and a bread toaster of the non-oven variety.I wouldn't personally have chosen to purchase either. But I have to admit, for what they each do, they're a lot faster than pre-heating an entire conventional oven.

@futurebird @5tern1 And when you live in hot places, a toaster oven is used often because it heats the kitchen less.Having just moved, we trashed our little basic toaster oven, and bought an air fryer/toaster oven. For two retirees, this is easier than using the big oven.I was eyeing an electric kettle last week. More hot tea is forecast with colder weather.

@futurebird I’m English. I have an electric kettle plus a small travel kettle for when I go to hotels overseas that don’t have them. I need to make tea whenever I choose to do so. We once made a cup of tea while we were waiting for a flight at Schipol.

@arratoon I have a travel kettle that's the same size as a thermos. And it's very nice since one can get away with boiling water even in places where a kettle might cause someone to become alarmed.

@futurebird Area lot of British people responding to this? I would figure more Americans would have toaster ovens than electric tea kettles. I have a kettle I use pretty much daily, but it's stove top. Electric kettles are more of a thing in the UK, or so I thought.

@futurebird There are some toaster ovens in the Smart Oven category. Ours does all the toaster functions plus has settings for air fry and dehydrate and others I cannot recall. Much larger than our regular 4 slice toaster but great on hot days when you might want to bake a potato or make cheese toast.
