Maybe I am too dumb to use Facebook, but I don't get how so many people even can use it. Every time I tried creating a Facebook account (throughout the past years...) they were immediately locked after creation and I needed to wait multiple days for some admin to confirm it despite using 100% my real name, identity, even uploading a picture of my PASSPORT once. I never used a VPN or a public WiFi to create the account, I used a normal Gmail address as my E-mail etc. The only working way I've found to use Facebook is to go on the dark web and buy accounts. Not kidding.

@ErikUden the solution is very simple: use a temporary email address and a fake name. once you get banned, repeat the process. my current instagram account (only for following politicians on instagram) has been in service for more than two years.

@ErikUden Yep. The last time I tried, it was locked before I could make my first post. Or do anything. And my appeal was rejected. I only did it for my (now defunct) Etsy shop. It's a waste of time, like everything online.

@ErikUden Erstaunlich... Ich war (vor 10 Jahren) mal bei Facebook, weil ich dort die Seite einer Bürgerinitiative betrieben hab. Hatte keinerlei Probleme mit der Anmeldung (mit posteo-E-Mail, keine Scans, kein Foto).Ich war froh, als sich die BI auflöste + ich den Account wieder löschen konnte.Aber WARUM möchtest du eigentlich einen Facebook-Account ? 🤔

@ErikUden i once created an instagram account on my phone and was blocked the moment registration was done, saying i'd be a bot. Well, if they don't want my data... i don't mind keeping it.

@ErikUden I have so much protection on my phone that most the time I can't even log into Facebook. I don't like turning that protection off, but occasionally I do just to get logged in (usually to find out who died). The only other reason I keep an account (which has been not-in-my-birth-name since creation in 2009) is because of a handful of friends who absurdly and resolutely refuse to use anything but their messaging app. It's honestly the only place I can connect with them (and I need to at least weekly for various reasons). I am surprised how many people don't think about how horrible it is there. Recently I was trying to impress upon my mother that most of the things she sees there are not real and that she should not click on them. What it amounts to is every three months or so I have to go nuke her computer because she's clicked on something that she shouldn't have. This is the song of my generation.

@ErikUden I have found it unusable even after having an account for most of its existence. The feed is a trash fire full of random stuff and not the (mostly family) I follow and finding anything out in a timely manner is nigh impossible.

@ErikUden blocking 90% of registrations is a logical consequence of having a 90% rate of low-quality, bot and otherwise disposable content. One could argue if meta blocks 9 out of 10 people from joining they would have a very high success rate at blocking the correct ones as well. The people who still stay on those platforms are a nicely stirred mix of target audiences to sell ads for. I don't know if meta cares about the users content at all. They just need a little to keep them engaged.

@ErikUden Exactly the same here with Instagram. I think this is the same as it is the Meta login.I was not able to crate an account without getting blocked seconds after getting the confirmation mail.I did not try to bye an account. I just do not join.
