       @Grim_Bastards @JhonBull yeah Pokémon/human marriage was canon at one point. There have been subtle nods to that stuff throughout the series too. I think the idea was to make them a lot more "sentient" than your average dog in real life or whatever, and make them seem closer to equals to humans, so that making them fight and do your bidding isn't unethical. I mean, if you don't have enough gym badges, more powerful Pokémon just flat out don't respect you. I mean you have Pokémon like Meowth and Lucario from the anime/movie that actually just learned how to talk.
