I'm glad to announce the release of version 2.60 of #snac, the simple, minimalistic #ActivityPub instance server written in C. It includes the following changes:Migration from a snac account to a Mastodon one has been implemented. Please see snac(8) (the administrator manual) for more information.Fixed a bug in argument parsing regarding some special characters (contributed by ndagestad).Fixed image emojis in the public profile bio.https://comam.es/what-is-snacIf you find #snac useful, please consider buying grunfink a coffee: https://ko-fi.com/grunfink#snacAnnouncesThis release has been inspired by the song State of Independence versioned by #DonnaSummer.

@grunfink Great work! Thank you.The fact you implemented the outbound migration (from snac to Mastodon) tells much about you - you're an open and helpful person. Still, I'm waiting for the opposite path - from Mastodon (or other solutions) to snac as I think many would like to try snac without losing their followers. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you so much.I consider that every person is the legitimate owner of their data, so it's my duty to let people leave whenever they want with their assets, and avoid them being captive inside my software. The opposite movement, bringing them to me ๐Ÿ˜‰ comes after that (it will happen soon, unless life gets in my way).

@grunfink This is the correct approach. If all people in IT were like you, the IT world would be a much, much better place.#OwnYourData

@grunfink What does snak do? How would it be of use to any of us who are technical?

#snac is an alternative to Mastodon, Friendica o Pleroma. It works mostly the same, but its dependencies on other software elements and the requirements of the hosting machine are much lower. If you self-host you internet presence, it may prove easier and cheaper to maintain than any of the others. It also supports the Mastodon API, so you can (to some extent) use a bunch of Mastodon client apps.

Same here. 30 seconds of downtime. About the same as a system reboot now! Amazing. Thank you for your work on this @grunfink@comam.es!

Migration from a snac account to a Mastodon one has been implemented. While I have no use for that (and most probably never will), this is a great addition!I assume migrating the other way around (from Mastodon to snac) is something planned for a future release?

@grunfink I submitted a Pull Request to update MacPorts' snac to 2.60 here:https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/26129All GitHub Actions Continuous Integration checks passed OK.I still am not in a place in my life where commit access is a responsibility I am willing to take on, so it is up to someone else to merge it.Neat to see the improvements to Mastodon migration in this release! Maybe that will help facilitate more users?Thank you, as usual! Also, nice to see a code push on a Thursday (in UTC at least?) not a Friday! ^_^#snac #MacPorts #OpenSource #ActivityPub #Mastodon #NoDatabaseNeeded #NoJavaScript #NoCookiesEither #NotMuchBullShit #snacAnnounces

Iโ€™m enjoying Snac a lot, thank you for your excellent work! Iโ€™ve had a look at the code, and it is very well written and readable. That is certainly not a given with C!
