This lovely painting is by Peter Trusler for Australian Postal Corporation (does that mean it's a mural in a post office? That would be amazing. )Anyway. I feel very much like this crow (upon finding out that there were once "short faced kangaroos") I may have added the text to the image...

@futurebird see also: short-faced bears.Some short-faced bears were famously large: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctodus , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArctotheriumBut the sole remaining short-faced bear is a rather small but interesting bear that lives in the Andes of south america; the most southerly of bears. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremarctos_ornatus

@babe @futurebird My family had a borzoi. He didn't bark, but he had this eerie howl. We lived in a rural area, and late at night, you could hear a freight train sound its whistle at crossings. The dog would howl back at the train.

@futurebird A nerd writes: This was part of the artwork for a set of postage stamps, though I reckon post offices should also rethink their very dull decor.https://www.stampsoftheworld.co.uk/wiki/Australia_2008_Megafauna#:~:text=Issue%20Date:%201%20October%202008;%20Designed%20by:%20Peter

@futurebird that’s a very innocent face. I can’t believe you’re accusing her of that.

@RFDave Whenever I try to explain the issues I have with Pica online EVERYONE always takes her side! No matter what she's done! It's incredible!"Pica deleted my short story and ruined my new sweater with claw marks."Internet: "She's so precious, give her another story to delete and six more sweaters."

@cmdrmoto @RFDave Oh I got this mixed up with one of the threads about Pica (Cat who everyone defends) ... but no, have you seen the kangaroos? Don't you think it's all a little suspect? Just a little?
