This lady at the bus stop has a red hat with a white slogan on it that says “MADE YA LOOK BLACK LIVES MATTER” and, indeed, she *did* make me look. Well played hat lady, well played.

A south bronx bus stop has to be one of the last places on earth you’d see a MAGA hat. But, if I ride out to LI it’s totally different. Apparently one of my coworkers sees this crazy MAGA theme car complete with a life sized trump statue waving on the back— she says it used to have Pence too… but he’s been removed. And the owner doesn’t seem inclined to make a Vance statue for some reason.

@futurebird I have a red baseball cap that has the word “Canada” on the front (from times long ago). I’ve had to stop wearing it because supporters of a certain politician think I’m trolling them, and on more than one occasion have wanted to throw hands.

@futurebird My husband bought himself and his buddy custom red hats the year they retired - a few months before Trump got in the first time and neither of them has wanted to wear them. Maybe we should take them back. If everyone is wearing red hats, with OTHER stuff written on them, the message might get diluted. Especially if they're silly or snarky.

@futurebird I had one of these for a while and enjoyed wearing it occasionally. But I was told by someone that, even though the message is good, they were uncomfortable with the hat just because of the connotation that those red hats have gotten. I couldn't really argue since I'm just a white guy, I don't have those same fears, but I haven't worn it since.

@futurebird So cool! My mom loved red hats. She always wore a felt red hat and was completely annoyed with the idea that the GOP had commandeered the color. I could have inherited those red hat (the color looks good on me, too), but I just couldn’t bring myself to wear them. Reading this, I wish I’d kept one.
