Laundry detergent sheets seem cool. Less plastic packaging. Inexpensive. Lazy person friendly. However I'm scared they will get damp and turn into a solid block of gooey soap. I'm going to give them a try and put them in a plastic bag, which at least can be reused so as to not defeat the purpose. Anyone have experience with them. Do you like them?I live in an apartment and have a little cart that we take down to the basement to do the laundry... so "sit them on the shelf" isn't an option.

@futurebird I switched about a year ago and I Love love love them. My favorite brand is the Grove Co. Free & clear. They dissolve completely and work great. Stay away from the super cheap starch based sheets. They're a mess.

@futurebird I don’t use them, I make my own laundry soap, but my aunt has them in a plastic container that Chinese food was delivered in, and she says they stay separate even though her house is very humid.

@futurebird I use the TruEarth Free and clear version. I find that I need to spot treat stains. (I use a marseille bar soap w/ a wet a toothbrush to apply) No problem with them sticking together, but I'm not storing them in a damp location.

@futurebird We love them! We don’t have a humid climate much of the time here in Norwich, UK….but I guess it does get quite damp. We keep a moisture trap in the kitchen where we store our household cleaning products. They seem to last just fine in the cardboard container they come in.

@futurebird we use the Ecos ones. Very happy with them, never going back. One thing – put them *beneath* the clothes, not on top. If it gets stuck to the washer door (we have a front loading variety), then it can fail to dissolve.

@futurebird It's to make the "fabric" format of it and so it can be torn. It is less plastic than big jugs??? https://www.consumerreports.org/environment-sustainability/what-is-polyvinyl-alcohol-what-is-pva-used-for-a1054051485/

@futurebird they work well enough if the clothes aren’t too stinky. Ive not experienced your concern about them becoming a blob.

@futurebird Sheets do not disolve. They're basically thin cheap fabric infused with... whateverthehellmakesthemwork... they're made of sterner stuff than TP.I find they do a slightly lesser job of softening my fabric, but a better job of making my clothes SMELL fresh.

@futurebird You might also consider Dirty Labs, which comes in an easily recyclable aluminum bottle.

@futurebird So I did a bit of digging into the basement as I'd heard we had started using these. We're using the Soulink detergent and I confirmed it's one of the few that doesn't use PVA.The PVA thing is amusing to me because I see Polyvinyl Acetate, but it's actually Polyvinyl Alcohol. The amusing cartoon of them making these things with school glue is dashed on the rocks of reality.

@futurebird I use laundry powder that comes in a cardboard box. In terms of waste, I doubt it can be done much better.
