Wow.. Currently Microsoft Xbox is down but that means I cannot sign in on my consoleSo basically I cannot use my gaming console, even for YouTube because Microsoft requires me to login first that does not workThis is what's wrong with tech these days, the endless requirement of being online for everythingTime for a jailbreak I guess

@stux This would be the same as having to log into an online account that is down to use your PC. That of course doesn't make sense, but the spying tool need to phone home to get your data to the other side.Microsoft is nothing more than an AD-tech company these days.

@stux I got mightily bored with forced updates on Xbox 360 and haven’t gone back. At least Switch hasn’t required login in order to play anything.But I do detest the online requirement, I had a moment a couple of months ago where I wanted to play on my Steam Deck on an environment without an Internet connection. But I couldn’t because the game needed a shader pre cache update 🤬

@stux This exact same thing happened to my wife's PlayStation on Tuesday. The services were down, and even offline games were blocked from being played, because the console couldn't check whether or not the license was granted to play said game.

@stux I remember during Windows Vista, online account for login meant you couldn't login to Windows at all if internet was down. It's why I don't want any of the online acount garbage in Windows 11 even if it works offline. Stop bothering me Microsoft!

@stux consoles have become such a scam over the years. I mean I got a PS5 so I'm part of the problem, but that's pretty next level bonkers you cant do ANYTHING with it because Xbox live is down. Hell I remember that just meant no Halo 3 multiplayer for the day. Not No game console cause it can't phone home right.

@stux yeah. That's a problem. My device should be able to operate in an offline mode. Because if not, I depend on the service provided by the corporation.

@stux The last game console I truly loved was a Sega Saturn. Everything after that was technically better and functionally a scam.
