I've been eating solely steak for dinner so far this week and it feels great. I've never cooked like this for myself either but honestly those moments cooking the food have become the highlights of my week.

@scottdhansen This is the first set of cuts I've ever gotten, it's a sirloin from #Walmart. Wish it was juicer, not sure if it's due to the cut or the fact that it's from #Walmart lol

@realcaseyrollins @scottdhansen I think a reason people turn to processed food is definitely the convenience. Taking time to cook wholesome meals is taking time to honor yourself. I buy tri-tip and cut steaks from it. It's one of my favorite cuts of beef. Chuck steaks are very flavorful too. The lack of juiciness, means lack of fat marbling. Walmart gets lower grades of beef. Sometimes it's how a particular cut is cooked. Some cuts are best medium rare, others medium.Grass fed has FLAVOR.

@realcaseyrollins generally at the sirloin level no harm in getting your cuts from wherever. Did you see if they were marked prime or choice? They may not have been marked that way.

@scottdhansen Frankly I didn't pay enough attention, it was getting a bit late when I bought it and I was in a bit of a hurry lol. I'll pay more attention next time, I will probably end up getting more steak over the weekend

@Coatedinjoy @scottdhansen Is fat marbling good or bad? Does #Walmart tend to have grass fed beef too?

@realcaseyrollins @scottdhansen marbling is good. Means it's juicer and generally more tender. Breed, animals purpose and finishing contribute to this. I've heard Walmart gets more of the old dairy cows than beef steers and cows.Grass fed and finished has less marbling as the animals are not fed sugar and corn that causes increased fat accumulation and marbling. Doesn't mean less juicier or tougher. Walmart probably does have grass fed.

The cut and where you get it from are as important as how you season and cook it FYI. I'd be careful of Walmart meat. They have recalls constantly. Find a good local butcher if you can. My favorite is a rib eye but due to price I usually go for a shoulder fillet or cut a tri tip into steaks. We make 95% of our food at home. It's so much better. Made steak burritos last night with my own homemade pepper sauce. Share your recipe if you find something good 👍@realcaseyrollins @scottdhansen

@realcaseyrollins @scottdhansen if you like burgers or ground beef recipes, try ground bison. Or yak. Both delicious.

@realcaseyrollins @Coatedinjoy you’ll learn about marbling by trial and error. Usually it’s preferable as it leads to a more tender steak.

@Max_Imum @scottdhansen Will do! I'll start with seasonings and when I perfect that I'll work on a sauce recipe. When I get home I'll share what I'm using now (I forget which seasonings I use at home but it's just a couple), but at some point I'll add #TonyChachere's #Creole seasoning into the mix, as it's my favorite seasoning of all time.https://www.amazon.com/Tony-Chacheres-Original-Seasoning-Shakers/dp/B00161FSZY
