Since I now have acquired a Sparc64 machine, I am hereby starting my next quest(s):Getting a POWER8 (or later) machine, and a big bad MIPS one, and a PA-RISC machine, and an ALPHA one, one Itanium, and a VAX

@selea I've got two POWER9 machines (that aren't technically mine) and one of the fastest PA-RISC workstations. It's bizarre how well a 2001 PA-RISC machine performs today running HP-UX.

@selea Alpha and VAX are on my list, for sure. I never played with one, but my dad used one for his job, and I always wanted to learn more.

@selea Euh I think the last release is technically still in some form of support on the last Itanium servers, but PA-RISC has been EOL since like 2005.https://www.openpa.net/ for literally every tidbit of info you could ever need about this.

@selea @thomholwerda I feel sorrow every time I think of all of the cool UNIX workstations that left the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in a dumpster.

@selea there are small form factor VAX stations. However please remember that Ultrix is a bitch to run on VAX. If possible try to find one with 4.2 already installed on.

@tebrown @selea Alpha's primary design goal is to get rid of the need for monitor software. You can track what's going on by listening to the CPU fan. VAX is a delight to work with if you are using VMS. With Ultrix, it is, well, a fun learning experience, to put it nicely...
