Looks like Western media is already attempting to normalise Israel’s supply-chain-based terrorist attack from yesterday that indiscriminately and savagely wounded ~3,000 people (yes, they’re people, as hard as it might be for some white folks to understand), some 300 of them critically, and killed others, including a 10-year-old girl. But don’t worry, it’s not like many USians/Europeans carry personal electronic devices made in foreign countries or anything… what’s the worst that could happen?

@aral Just wondering how long it's going to take for the Western governments to "urge restraint" on Lebanon 😡

@aral Well I saw reports that the Houthis and now Iran are sending troops to Beirut, so there'll be plenty of brown people blaming going on.

@aral This is going to blow up in our faces not too far down the road. Oh, and nobody will (should) ever trust the manufacturer (Motorola?) that allowed for this explosive alteration.More reason to design so they can build so we can buy open source. Forget the specs, at least it will not blowup in your face.🤦🏽‍♂️

@bigTanuki Open source would not have prevented this unless every pager was checked after receiving it (or entirely produced in-house). Do you want to be opening up a device that might possibly contain an explosive to see if it matches the open source schematics?

@aral It appears the pagers were produced in Hungary. In the outskirts of Taipei on Wednesday, Hsu Ching-Kuang, the Gold Apollo’ s founder and president, said the pagers were made by another company. Gold Apollo later identified that company as B.A.C. Consulting, a firm it described as having an address in Budapest. . Gold Apollo licensed them to produce the pagers. This is the model used, Gold Apollo’s AR924 pager. This like gas attacks and such should not be allowed . Honestly war itself should not be allowed but humans would need a major brain upgrade for that to happen.

@aral They are not USians! People from the US call themselves "americans". I know it's funny, cause for everyone else someone from Canada, Brazil or Cuba would also be an american... so I propose a compromise - let's call them USricans.

@aral Very true, but having a device that can be easily repaired and updated will lead to fewer device turnovers, and less likely hood of a unit that has been tampered with. I personally would not be able to open a device and check it, but I can see how in the future, repair or upgrade services, will happily fix your device and also check for tampering of hardware, and software. Personally, I use older phone models because they meet my needs just fine. I would love a mobile device that I can toggle parts out (like with a framework laptop) so the original main body can be used for at least 10 years. I believe that only Open Hardware and Open Code will allow for this kind of device. We all really do not need a smaller device every 2 years.
