Of course. There is nothing better than free food, homes for boozers, drug addicts and murderers. After all, we don't have any other important problems, do we?All those benefits require large amount of money to be spent. Who does the government take these money from? Taxpayers. So imagine you work and pay taxes. And insead of spending them on inproving healthcare, science and infrastructure, we are going to buy food and houses for marginalized people. Do you want to live in such a world? I'm definitely don't.And yes - everyone is just a human and humans make mistakes sometimes. And almost everyone deserves a second chance. From: @erishttps://yourwalls.today/objects/dacea85a-8041-4b17-91aa-fa6c654b8316

       >So imagine you work and pay taxes. I'd rather it go towards helping people in need than killing people halfway across the globe.

@Alex I understand your idea, but I did’t say a word about killing people. I am talking about healthcare, science and so on.@eris

You're talking about taxes, and what it goes to. Killing people is part of that.

@eris It’s definitely not about my moral concerns.Giving people free houses and food may seem to be a good idea at first sight. But on the long distance it creates a kind of so called the tragedy of the commons situation. I mean, at some point in time, everyone will decide that it is easier to get a free house and food while being marginal rather than work and buy it in a normal way.

Most people, generally speaking, would rather live above just having the bare minimum requirement of food and shelter met; most people want to better their condition and are not satisfied with the bare minimum. Many people don't even have that much as it is. Shelter is one of the most fundamental needs any person has, one we often take for granted in the modern era, so we neglect and ignore those who don't have this fundamental need met. You're talking about denying the least well off their most fundamental needs simply because the more well off might choose to make their circumstances worse in order to take advantage of the help being provided to those in need.
