@matrix So a technically better solution (interoperability on by default, available to anyone, regardless of their location) would be way cheaper, but Meta is seeking rents, so either consumers or partners will have to pay through the nose for an inferior product.Cool.

@markus @TheGymNerd yup. so: given Meta won’t open the APIs to allow interop with any non-EU residents, this blog post is intended to gauge interest in a bridge given that limitation.

@matrix @markus @TheGymNerd Personally I only use WhatsApp to talk with people from within the EU so I'd definitely still be interested, but I really don't like giving up my privacy for it.

@matrix @markus just opening this up for users in the EU would be ok for me but giving them my client IP just for that is actually the problem.Also I don't really get the contract part that Individual Matrix instances and Meta would need to sign. What kind of contract would that be? Will they sign contracts with self hosted people?

@matrix These Interoperabilität fantasies are nonsense.Serious people use Matrix because of the independency of companies like meta and their tracking.When there is a bridge you just could create an account to get in touch of the private realms.At the current states I'm not sure what to think about public unencrypted rooms with bridges to companies collect. and proc. there data from without consent. Collaboration and volunteering is a key factor for open source.
