@susie @Hoss The reason for the hate (at least in North America and to an extent the UK in my observations) is that many cyclists take what are effectively toy vehicles into automotive roads, bike like maniacs/as if they're exempt from road traffic rules and then act indignant when they get into near-misses or accidents. Furthermore, because of the car-centric infrastructure in NA specifically many of these cyclists exude insufferable resentment towards motorists. You get a whole class of people who want bike paths implemented not out of a love for biking but to punish motorists and consequently you get city layouts hostile to all forms of transportation. (See: Montreal for an infamous example)The final solution to this problem is segregation. The Netherlands (bikecel mecca) already implements this very well to my knowledge; bike, pedestrian and automotive paths are separated as much as possible and are planned out so you can actually get wherever you need to be on bike paths alone. This prevents the problem of toy vehicles sharing the same road space as cars, buses, etc.

@tadano @Hoss I see. Here cyclists use cycle path or share a "light traffic" path with pedestrians. They are allowed on the road where those don't exist, which is mainly in areas where the speed limit is already 30-40km/h. I've never seen a cyclist do anything dangerous, but I can imagine idiots exists who can ride a bike.But like I said, I'm not talking about cycling, just pedestrians and mainly kids who get run over by the blind spots in these trucks. The height of the headlight doesn't matter. Headlights have a cutoff. Properly calibrated lights will have a maximum height of 2 inches below the center point of the enclosure at 25 ft. I had to do this recently for my WRX:https://battlepenguin.com/technology/updating-the-lighting-on-my-2006-subaru-wrx/#light-alignmentMost (all?) light bars are not SAE compliant and shouldn't be used on-road.If you're getting blasted by a headlight, it's likely aftermarket and/or not installed correctly.
