@aral It's far too easy for billionaires to convince people that the only reason they aren't billionaires themselves is because of socialism/immigrants/unions/minimum wages (Delete as appropriate). So then you get everyone too busy fighting amongst themselves to actually pay attention.Although that's just human nature for you, especially when you consider that our *preferred* system of government relies on 50% of the (voting) population not wanting (or manipulated into wanting) evil.

       > "I mean, when you think about it, what do you really need? Clean air? Fresh water? A climate suitable for human life?"> "Or billionaires?"> "It's billionaires, amirite?"@aral why not have both 😉 (Reads the final policy proposal agreement from COP-UNFCCC...)🤢 Oh, yeah, we definitely cannot have both. This is definitely an either-or thing.

@aral in the bluntest fashion possible eradicating billionaires would cut global emissions significantly. They are *eating* cats, dogs, birds, insects, people all over the world. It is even fair to say they are sucking the blood of children across the globe. (If they pay conservatives to blood libel Haitians, I find throwing it back with reason quite apt)Their wealth is the death of mankind.

@aral What about squeezing out the billionaires, like washcloths or oranges, so all their billions can be freely released, and then letting them go to figure things out for themselves? Seems more humane. 🤭

@aral How would I know I'm free if there weren't billionaires making live 100x economically harder than it needs to be?

@arrrg @aral I think it goes even deeper. capitalism is the problem here no doubt, but I think this is ultimately due to its authoritarian, hierarchical structure. That's what it's built to enforce. we can't hope for success in swapping out one authoritarian system with another. we have to make a new way of relating to one another without subjugation in any form, otherwise you just get extreme inequality from the abuse of power structures for individual gain and defence of the system itself
