       @faggotracist1488 The problem is that's three characters instead of one. If you wanna digitize a document, you have to map the special character to that sequence, and I guess it was just easier to not do that.

       @faggotracist1488 I can't say I'm an expert on this stuff, so it could be a different reason, this is just my best guess.One thing I'll say is that this was probably put into Unicode way before OCR was any good.
