Short thread on how awful my hometown city has become (Syracuse NY). A couple of years ago, myself and youngest son almost got shot , while driving separate cars, home from dinner with grandma.A car ,2 cars in front of me and an oncoming car were shooting at each other. We escaped without injury to person or property. NYS is ran by Democrats. They have Bail Reform. No one stays in jail unless it's a heinous crime. Even then, bail is set low. Yes, even child molesters have, low bail, if any.

About a month ago, a 15 year old black male was shot in the head. It didn't give many details in the news. It started appearing on my fb TL. Many people I knew were posting asking for prayers. Turns out I know the kids uncle (played baseball with my son 20 years ago) and aunt (we knew each other as kids). I dont know the mother. I didn't want to ask any details, but I was under the impression, he was shot in a drive by. I then ran into a friend close to the family.

I asked her and she didn't know too much but stated his mother was letting him run wild in the streets. Daily prayers were asked for and given. His mother's fb profile is public. I kept an eye on it for updates. He is 15 years old, I cared. He was on life support. The aunt and uncles fb posts I could see (maybe because of our mutual friends). I assumed he got into the drug business or gang banging in general and pissed someone off.

The daily posts from adults about what a great kid he is and how much they love him and he has to pull through , the normal stuff. Mom kept him alive for 2 weeks and decided to let him go. The posts were gut wrenching. Then they became eye opening. Mom posted videos of her son gangsta rapping with a potty mouth. They had his casket wrapped like you wrap a car. Eerie life sized cutouts of him. Hey, we all grieve differently. Then came the Harley Davidson Trike, towing his casket

In what looked like a glass chariot, through the ghetto streets he grew up on. O arrests had been made and no one offered any insight to motive. Today I scrolled our local paper and seen that three 16 year olds,had been arrested and charged with his murder. I loved the post, until I read it. The victim and the 3 kids that were arrested, were all in a stolen car. Victim was in back seat and accidentally took a shot to the head, as the front passengers were doing a drive by.

My sympathy immediately fled and anger set in. I even posted publicly that now Kia's and Hyundais are a little safer tonight. 4 car thieves, emboldened by bail reform laws, are out of the equation, at least for tonight. To the adults that made his funeral the spectacle it was, who loved him so , failed him BIGly. I grew up in the ghetto by a single mother of 5. Not one of us ever been arrested. None of us became addicts. Parent have got to do better. This mother has 2 other kids I think.

I pray I don't read about another. I pray that myself and all law abiding citizens , who are doing the right things in life, don't become a victim because of these bail reform laws. I pray that mother gets the help she needs and birth control.End
