@Aphrodite @ncommander Isn't this illegal in most states? I know it's against the law in Georgia. We updated the "handsfree" law a few years ago and explicitly outlawed live streaming from a car.Stay safe out there!

@Xavier @ncommander I wouldn’t be surprised if the intent of that law was to prevent people from recording unlawful stops. Our setup has no device interactivity by the driver.

@Aphrodite @ncommander Actually, the intent was to stop people from video calling or being on zoom/teams/etc., but the language would include live streams.I was very curious about this topic (I do volunteer policy work at the state level), so I searched around. It looks like Georgia was the first to ban video, but Illinois passed a law that went into effect at the beginning of 2024.I am very surprised to hear that Georgia is the first to pass a law against something that other states haven't outlawed already. I'll have to go find the author of that law and give them some kudos.

@Xavier @Aphrodite This is the first I heard of it, although since the law only went into effect July 1st, that's not surprising.I did check the 2024 IL law and I appear to be in compliance with it; their law specifically says "video conferencing", and I was sending it to a private RTMP server before going to YT.Nonetheless, thank you for the headsup, and I'll include a note about this when I do a video.

@Xavier @Aphrodite Actually, IL's law specifically exempts this from using handsfree, and I specifically set the stream up to route through the Prius's bluetooth system to ensure I was not running afoul these types of laws. (3) a driver using an electronic communication device in hands-free or voice-operated mode, which may include the use of a headset;Still, I should have checked this more throughly before hand.

@Xavier @Aphrodite Honestly, despite the fact that this didn't violate the law, it did make me reconsider if it was a good idea to do it in the first place.Right now I've been up half the night pondering this, especially combined with the absolutely horrendous weather I drove through at the end.I'll think more on it on the morning, but I've privated the streams for now, and debating if I want to make a video on *why* did so, since frankly, it could have ended badly.

@ncommander @Xavier @Aphrodite I wasn’t able to participate but I thought it was incredibly cool of you to do this. If you do make a condensed video about it I don’t think any state would extradite you, but I guess check each one you drove though first. Best of luck in Oregon!!
