I have a clock collection. They all chime and most have to be wound. Most are antiques. I just like clocks. But alas, it seems that few do. Neither of my kids like them nor do any of my nieces and nephews want them. I've collected them my whole life and it seems that when I croak, they are destined for the trash. When my son comes home, the first thing he does is shut them all off. The chiming puts him right over the edge. I just got a new one, at an estate sale, for his room. Haha

@Phil my son is a collector... He's got some in our basement (by the bar) for now until he gets married next year... It drives the son in law nuts having all these clocks...lol. Now I think he does it just to annoy his brother in law when they're downstairs drinking......

@Phil Ah, memories! My mum loved clocks and particularly enjoyed a 1910-era mantel clock that chimed VERY loudly on the quarter-hour.I would endure that &$*%**% chiming from bedtime until my cup ran over. Usually tiptoeing over and stopping the thing nightly sometime around midnight. Each day my mum, brow furrowed, would restart the clock and reset the time.At one point she ceased and I WON, BABY!!! I WON!!!

@Phil I have the one that sat on my grand parents mantle. I was more used to hearing a grinding noise than chime because when we slept over on the sofa bed they would turn off the chime. It it would still go through the process but made a different noise. It won’t mean anything to my kids either when I’m gone.
