       With inflation, it's like trying to measure the rising tide by noticing that the waterline is getting higher and higher up your hull, not realizing that actually means your boat is sinking.

       @nicholas Well, some of us were bailing already, and realized that the boat was leaking, LOL.  Just read a story in which Alexander von Humboldt was being escorted, with all his priceless equipment, across a straight of placid ocean off the coast of Venezuela, worriedly noticing that the boatman's son had to bail nonstop to keep them above the waterline.  As a good American born in the cold war years, I've been bailing ever since I started contributing to Social Security.
