@Kyonko802 Yu Yu Hakusho and Cyber City are the only dubs I can think of which are superior to their Jap version. Ghost in the Shell is decent, and there a few other stand outs. But, generally closer to the source material the better the work gets. That's like a universal standard. Imagine listening to the Simpsons in Japan.

Nintendo's localizers took out a ton of romantic conversations on Fire Emblem Engage (even amount adults like Risato) which was so dumb.At the same time, I see the complaints for Unicorn Overlord and honestly, the straight Japanese translation examples were really dull and boring. The English version adds in a lot of Victorian/fantasy/game-o-thrones accents ... which .. I mean doesn't help all that much but it also didn't matter because the dialog in general was really bad.

Adding tone or theme is fine or even good, if it does not mess with the translation itself.Of course if there are some characters or groups in the original script that talk unusually, then the particular tone should be saved for those.
