@jareichen there's a guy on youtube that tried to demonstrate this with a bike and an alternator and he couldn't generate shit after hours of peddlingbut yea i can't wait to see gen 1 teslas with an asking price of 50k on used markets>just needs a little tlc, dont want to let it go just have too many and the wife wants it gone

@dictatordave@poa.st, ROFL just a bike and an alternator you wont generate enough RPMs on the alternator to output enough voltage. You would need reduction gearing to make one pedal rotation equal 10 or more alternator rotations.

@jareichen yea he messed with different gearing and what not, he admitted that with more work he could probably get it more efficient but the idea that one can generate a lot of power with that kind of classic setup is a bit far fetched

@dictatordave@poa.st WATTS! Thats what I meant. He still didnt employ a reduction gear. This is a simple one but they can be very complex to go from one rotation to 100+ rotations on the output.

@jareichen i have no doubt that its possible, its the same with everything, the raw power has to be harnessed somehow without insane lossi'd be interested to see someone employ the gearing from like an ebike hooked up to a solar panel to help with the power loss and gearing issues
