most controversial hot take: brown is dark red and all of you are denying the fact that language and cultural impact affect the way you see the world.Explained in this hit classic by @TechConnectify

@ErikUden hot take of my professor is that brown does not exist, if there isn't a color to reference next to it. Because it's dark red.

@ErikUdenIt sounds like this guy is talking only about colors of light (rgb). His theory goes out the window if we admit non-light colors to the witness stand@TechConnectify

@ErikUden @TechConnectify It is actually orange, and its perception as "brown" is entirely driven by surrounding environment.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown#/media/File:Optical_grey_squares_orange_brown.svg

@ErikUden @TechConnectify if you use a RGB or HSL color model, then you would not get much agreement. CMYK might get some agreement. From a linguistic perspective, the common color names we use reflect the cultural divisions. English did not need azure to be to blue like pink is to red, and orange reportedly was not common until the Oranje dukes were honored for their exploits.

@ErikUden @TechConnectify It’s an interesting hypothesis, but unlike red, brown does not exist on the color spectrum. There are no brown photons. It is instead a perceived color that is a mix of multiple pure colors, but predominantly a mix of red & orange.
