Look at this miserable judaizer trying to get you falling into despair.Apparently he woke up that day having shoved thumbtacks in his brain and he forgot everything the Bible teaches, so let's do him a favor and show what he SHOULD have said. *ahem*"Every book in the New Testament teaches that our eternal destiny hinges on the work of Christ. There is no salvation without Christ's obedience, even obedience to going to the Cross.Good works are necessary because we are saved. That you were forgiven must lead you to repentance.Do not be deceived: in eternity, you will reap what Christ has sown in your heart."There, I de-calvined it.

@nine2five They're against *justification* by works. But Piper and guys like this make a weird distinction between justification and salvation. They'll say you're justified by faith alone, but then say you must do good works for the attainment of eternal life.

@nine2five @SuperLutheran We are. This guy thought he was jumping into the deep end, but instead dived head first into the kiddie pool.

@Robert_Edwardly Or Piper? Or the accounts coming to lusks defense?Thankfully there are some reformed bros trying to police what he's saying, but he's not alone in that estimation.

@SuperLutheran Lusks position is imbalanced and it's not Calvin's position. Also, I have no idea where Piper was going with all the "two justifications" stuff but then again piper is weird on a lot of things (pacifism, eschatology, etc)

@SuperLutheran I'm hoping lusk isn't endorsing straight up Shepherdism here but it's a bad look.

@SuperLutheran having listened to a ton of Cultish and other like Christian shows.I have noticed that ALL cults and heretical orders teach that works save you.they misunderstand the role works has:works are not the means of salvation, but has the proof of salvation and the means for on going sanctification.for we are saved even if we do nothing going forward from confession, but God rewards works and without putting in an effort we don't move closer to being more like Christ and following His will of sanctifying us while we live.

@SuperSnekFriend @nine2five @SuperLutheran I think that is specifically calling out "dead faith". You can't be saved without also showing the fruits of salvation, I.E. sanctification. Saying that good works are required is papal BS.

@fkq1q2r2 @nine2five @SuperLutheran That was what old Reformers, whom Twitter OP quotes, were saying when using the contentious formula, especially when dealing with Antinomians. Yet the language, even back then, is so unhelpful to the cause of the Reformation that it's worse than worthless. It was a good thing Protestants quickly ditched it in favor of other catechistic formulas, like the one R.C. Sproul (God rest his soul) promoted, "We are not saved by good works, but saving faith produces good works."Speaking of, SuperLutheran, a Reformed Baptist did a good expose from the Reformed perspective and how the language OP used, no matter the technically correct, shouldn't be used:founders.org/articles/the-necessity-of-good-works-for-christians/
