If I ever become rich, I'm gonna start a factory to make laserdiscs. And also cd-roms. I want a 12"/30cm data disc, damn it.(yes they'll also make floppies but I figured that was obvious)

@foone Think of how much data you could store on a laser disc sized blu ray? Could you make them too?

@foone last experience with a 12" floopy has been this year, getting data off a venerable (you kidding? what???) plant control system. it has been running since the 80's, no OS updates since the 90's, and still working. it is not danger critical, but amazing what is still out there.my wife is considering 5 years of COBOL maintenance to make shitloads of money before retirement.

@thomasjwebb ooh, a new fully analog format would be fun. You could stuff incredible resolution into an analog Blu-ray! And then make it the size of a laserdisc for even more resolution!
