It's a little disturbing that Pica clearly knows what doorknobs are for, and it's only her small size and furry little paws that keep her from turning them and going wherever she wants. She has been pawing at the door handle for some time now... I guess she does observe how we open the door-- she keeps looking to me to come and fix it.

@futurebird Yeah, Daisy, our taller dog, figured out to open the doors with the handles rather than the knobs. We had to replace my room’s handle with a knob to maintain separation with Jojo. :)

@futurebird When I was a kid, we had a cat who not only figured out how to open the windows, she then went on to teach the other cats how to open them, too.

@futurebird I was sure this was about to end with Pica emulating the most terrifying part of Jurassic Park

@futurebird I wish I could make little Pica abled to open door knobs, LOL. Well, with the exception of her going wherever she wants to. She has to ask you, her mom if she can…

@futurebird I had a cat, Figo who was polydactyl in a way that he had thumbs. He was a larger cat so standing on his hind legs he could reach the door handles. Lever style door handles he has no problem opening. The round style door handles he figured out how to open after a couple of years. No room was safe!

@futurebird When my son was a little toddler we lived in a house where we would sometimes keep open the front door with a stone to stop it swinging closed. To close the door we would just carefully kick the stone out of the way. My son started giving the stone a little kick every time he went past.

@futurebird sometimes at 4am one of our cats will jump up and rattle the door knob for several minutes. It's unnerving

@FenTiger @futurebird In the early 90s we had a rabbit that could not only unlatch and escape his hutch, but also managed to develop his own numerical system and learned to communicate with us using colours and patterns he emitted from his eyes.We had also very easy access to LSD around that time

@futurebird whatever you do, don't swap out for levers. Both of my dogs open outside doors now.

@heafnerj @futurebird We had a Turkish Van named Houdini who would literally turn the knob with his paws.
