@chillanarchist01 Absolutely agree. This incarnation of the Russian Federation seems to believe more in democracy than we do. Today's Russia has more in common with our Traditional values - God, country, and family than us! IMHO

@marathon I wouldn't go so far as to say that (look at how long Putin has been in power), however, I do agree that overall modern Russia is way more conservative than most other nations right now, especially so-called Western 'democracies', all the while countries like the U.S. slip further and further into totalitarianism. It's absolutely bonkers.

@chillanarchist01 Well, he's voted in by the masses. I'd argue their elections are cleaner than in your country. Most objective experts agree with this. Putin's approval rating is in the 80s% wise. 🤷🏼♂️

@marathon Yes, I am American.I would agree that our elections are dirty and fully compromised. No doubts or arguments there, however, I have to question the validity of approval ratings in a country like the Russian Federation. Putin is very much feared as much as respected. I don't even really buy into our country's measure of approval of candidates. Maybe it's the anarchist in me that makes me biased against politicians in general.

@chillanarchist01 No worries. I'm a pragmatic person. When the older spooks, like Larry and others that worked the Russia desk in the 1St Cold War, say it, I listen. They should know, because they're experts on Russia, something that the current CIA doesn't have. Which is why we in the West keep miscalculating. Can you imagine what would happen if a Russian supported and trained army invaded Texas!?

@marathon We do keep miscalculating. I just don't think the fear is warranted. Do you mean something similar to the supposed invasion going on now at the U.S. southern border? I don't know. I think we're seeing a mass migration event being capitalized on by both the fear-mongers and the criminal element, but that's it.An actual invasion, like in Red Dawn? I don't know. I think there would be guerilla resistance for sure, and it would be ugly. Past that, I just don't know.
