@stux Last year summer I bought a #xiaomi redmi note 12 Pro+ smartphone for 380 Euros.Included was/is a 120-watt charger, a USB-C 3.1 cable, a simple transparent case and a premium glass for the screen. No headphones though.So it was complete. And the 120-watt charger alone costs about 55-60 euros. It charges not only my smartphone but occasionally my MacBook Air M1. Works flawlessly.Samsung is the same shit. No Charger. No Cable. Buy little for much.Thanks but no thanks ...

@spaceship Well not really and that the issue :flan_laugh: There are millions of types of "Andriod phones" and I'm getting lost in a sea of garbage :blobcatgiggle: Apple is expensive but i do know what i get (the device alone)

@stux I'm on a linux phone, but between Apple and Android (as far as OS's are concerned), I'd personally would go for a used Android phone and replace the stock rom with a custom one. I can survive without the latest gadgets and I tend to keep my devices going (with the support I need) until it breaks.

@stux I always have mixed feelings on this. I didn't need the items shown when I bought my last iPhone but I think Apple should offer them for free on request when purchasing a phone. The biggest need is probably for USB-C cables for people moving from a lightening port. They might also need a new power plug since they probably have a USB-A plug.My iPhone 15Pro might have come with the USB-C cable, I just don't remember.

@stux There are many good reasons to criticize Apple, but that’s not one. Including accessories that people already have drawers full of from previous products is wasteful. We’re 20 years on from the first iPhone. People don’t change earbuds when they get new phones; and old chargers and cables still work, especially now that most devices use USB c.

@stux I dunno, back in 2010 or so, my daughter was a freshman in High School and she asked for an Ipod and I, being a very grouchy sort of guy, hating apple got her a zune and she said: I am the only person in the entire school with a zune you have to get me an ipodor something like that

@stux yes... but they were mediocre earbuds and a proprietary charger. And it's (good) EU legislation rather than company greed that killed the latter.

@stux I’ll take the one on the left. I bought a phone, I expect a phone. I already have my preferred sound setup. I already have wires run for charging on the nightstand, the car dash, the office desk, and the living room. I’ve got spare power bricks from when I removed the wall warts (emphasis on warts) and replaced them with slim/angled/double plugs. Why do I need bonus e-waste to go with the phone I bought?
