Everything he has ever said in his life is always exaggerated to the furtherest possible extreme and further. It's can never be a "bad economic policy" no. It has to be a policy that will "destroy our country" ... Like I'm trying to make a joke by exaggerating about how much Trump exaggerates, but this is rather hard. Outside of professional wrestling and flim-flam men it's unheard of. And there is a bad consequence to this empty rhetoric.

Everyone keeps asking about Harris: what are her "policies" what are the nuts and bolts. Why on earth would she say anything specific when her opponent uses vibes based communication alone? It's a tactical error to box yourself in and open yourself to criticism when you can't respond in kind.So we have tariffs being called "Trump Taxes" and "cease-fire-and-bring-them-home" (said all in one breath) as foreign policy.

All Harris needs to do is have more substance than Trump. And that is a low bar. Since I'd rather she win I don't even really care that much...AND YET-- It would be better if we were having real conversations about immigration, the economy and all of these topics. But, as long as one campaign is a clown show the risk opening such a conversation would represent isn't worth it. So everyone misses out.

@golgaloth Basically. I think this was one factor in Clinton's difficulties. She tried to engage a little too much. If Trump is say "they will destroy America" then you don't need to give a long list of your economic bullet points. Nah.Just say "I love this country. And you are a convicted felon."As someone who LIKES getting into the weeds I do not enjoy this much.

Thank you!During the June debate, it seemed like Biden was attempting (albeit poorly) to refute each of trump’s lies — an impossible, task even by someone with more verbal skills— there were too many and they were too exaggerated. I’m assuming Harris is working with staff and maybe even psychiatrists to come up with a strategy to “handle” trump. It will be an interesting test of her skill.

@futurebird @golgaloth despite her experience, Clinton believed that on some level, the news media was a serious enterprise and if she stayed the course, they would be forced to admit the truth about Trump. That was her mistake.I think back to the debate where she was asked "What's one good thing about your opponent." Hillary said his kids (lol), but should have said "I'm negative on Trump because he sucks. I don't have anything nice to say about him. Neither should you."

@futurebird idk. Bernie did well in that same environment, doing Fox events and things like that, with strong bipartisan support, for specific, populist policies. Trump very much seemed to be afraid to debate Bernie: https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-36401179 .

@scrottie Bernie very often pulls back and talks in very general terms when needed. He might have done better in the debate than Clinton if only because he never expects media to be on his side simply for being more reasonable. He knows he has no friends in those places and acts accordingly. That said?Media would have made it seem like he lost for being boring, or for saying something "too communist" or whatever.

@tess @bronakins If there is a good moment to laugh at him go for it. He's been going on and on about how KAMmala "won't laugh anymore" and "they told her not to laugh" ...but I don't think this is true? He just wishes it was and he was in her head that much. Or this is what I thought these comments were about at first... but he kept on saying them so much I think he's unsettled by the laugh. I think he's trying to wish it away.
