I have to say, Kamala Harris has upped her game significantly. Her 2020 campaign didn’t generate anywhere near the same enthusiasm. On top of that, the negative press was overwhelming. (Undeservedly so, I’d argue. After all, misogynoir is a thing, and it’s rampant.)Thankfully, Joe Biden believed in her, and made her his running mate. Now look at her. Fun fact—I’ve seen almost every DNC since 1992, and I have fond memories of my very first. Even though I was barely sentient then, I still remember getting caught up in the excitement around Bill Clinton. What a breath of fresh air!As momentous as that was, it pales in comparison to what I’m seeing today. The excitement around Kamala Harris is off the damn charts.Alas, that doesn’t guarantee a victory in November. But for once, I’m optimistic about our chances.#DNC2024

I can’t help but notice that they’re making disability accommodations at this convention, the most visible examples of which are an ASL interpreter and subtitles.Trump and the GOP could never. They’re too busy bullying and mocking disabled people.#DNC2024

Back during the second Iraq War, the GOP loved telling anti-war protesters that they should “support the troops”. Then, as now, I had a ready rebuttal. If you actually support the troops, don’t make them fight an unjust war. And when they come home, give them the support they need and deserve. Here’s yet another thing that stands out to me, as a constant student of history. I still remember when the GOP was “family values” this and “moral majority” that. Accurate or not, it was effective messaging.They still think they’re about that, but the gulf between their self-perception and reality has never been greater. Today’s GOP is a morally bankrupt party supporting a morally bankrupt man. The Dems know it, and they’ve placed family values and morality front and center.#DNC2024
