I thought the long-term capital gains tax was supposed to be lax to encourage people to invest their savings. Guess they want it to be a "fuck you for investing your money" tax now, just another reason for people not to put any of their savings in the market.

It's so obvious what they're doing here. It's not about sticking it to Jeff Bezos like they want people to believe, in fact it's the opposite. They want to punish any wayward cattle that get any wise ideas about trying to save their wages instead of engaging in consoomption that grows Amazon's bottom line.

I really doubt the unrealized capital gains tax goes anywhere. The long-term capital gains tax hike may happen though, not like the elite would give much of a shit. You don't pay capital gains tax when you borrow against your shares like they do.
