Look, I'm gonna lay this out on the line:This place is fucking shit for my mental health. It's that simple! And it is *not* helped that any time I voice this, I get replies which one way or another make it clear it's my problem to solve.

@TechConnectify The reason I never signed up for Twitter was that I was certain it would give me a mental illness. This seems somewhat less bad. I don't feel the need to give it any more credit than that.

I don't like being a whiny person, so largely I'm not. I recognize I've won life's lottery in lots of ways and have privileges many, MANY people don't.But I am still a person. And while I'm grateful for all the supportive replies I get here, there's sincerely about a 1:1 ratio between those and replies which push me away.It is simply not fun for me to be here. And I'm damn sure that's not my problem.

@publius It's the difference between sticking your hand in the grinder, or sticking your hand in the poison-coated grinder. Twitter is worse. But that doesn't make Mastodon healthy. This entire form of online social interaction will always be less healthy just because people can say whatever and do whatever with little consequence. It is what has made the internet so open, but it also makes it so treacherous. I love the technology, I love the idea. My opinions are mixed on people.

@TechConnectify I wonder if you have gotten any replies from other internet popular people on here, no idea how they deal with fediverse but some of them seems happy (or at least can tolerate it). I guess a lot of internet popular people just tried this for a few days and quit too.

@SymTrkl I am trying to make clear in a direct way that in order for me to stay here, shit has to change. And I am tired of being told I need to change clients, change instances, use Arch, or whatever the heck.I don't know what specifically makes this place so uniquely irksome, but a lot of it is how the userbase chooses to respond to things. And that's in no small part encouraged by the way moderation is put entirely on the receiver.

@SymTrkl I have argued many times, and will continue to do so, that one of the biggest problems Mastodon has is that other people cannot see a lot of the crap that I see, AND there aren't any effective ways for the crowd to reinforce good behavior and discourage bad behavior.Until people sit with that reality, this simply isn't a functional social media tool for me.

@TechConnectify @SymTrkl Lol I can't even see the person you were arguing with cause their server chose to not only block me but enable the function to prevent blocked servers from even loading their posts. I always find that really annoying and petty.Decentralized social media will probably always be a shit show.
