@petergleick I don't even get this one. Who is interested in the anniversary of Tiananmen Square? People who want to commend standing up to the Chinese government? Tank sickos? Like... it doesn't even track. In China that event is often omitted from history books, as it was embarrassing to the government...Logically anyone who is excited about it would be some kind of anti Chinese government radical.

@futurebird @petergleick There is nothing to get. Right-wingers, being fundamentally immune to all logic, facts, and reasoning, just obediently regurgitate the disinformation talking-points they get spoonfed in the right-wing PropagandaSphere. There is nothing approximating what you or I would call "thinking" involved anywhere in the process. It's all just mindless, reflexive noises and getting outraged on command.

@futurebird @petergleick bizarre. It’s notable perhaps for folks living in liberal democracies to commemorate the date and just how remarkably thorough the Chinese government has been in memory-holing the whole thing. Otherwise a very weird notion. Every day on the calendar is the anniversary of something wonderful and/or horrible. Humans gonna human.

@aggualaqisaaq @petergleick So it's really just "famous Chinese Protest Date = Bad Communist" and nothing more?
