@gfarrell That's the thing though. If you have such impulses you will never have a billion dollars, because the first time you have $1000 and realize you don't need it to survive and could really help someone you do it. Because anyone would, anyone normal. What could be more great than that?So you never get there.

@futurebird @gfarrell Yeah, I used to say to my friends (when it seemed like this might be a possibility, because *youth*) that, if I ever had enough money to buy my dream car or house, said friends should slap me and tell me to buy a normal car or house and put some kid through college or something.Perhaps fortunately, I doubt I will ever be in that position, but my attitude is the same. And I don't think I'm morally superior; if I had 100 million dollars I am not at all sure I'd live up to my high-minded principles with how I used it.

@futurebird @gfarrell if you 'have' billions of dollars (not sure what that means but i'm sure it doesn't mean u have billions in a bank account) how much of it can you easily spend/give away at a sustainable rate?like if i have a 40,000$ car i can't start giving away 1000$ parts of it...
