Hmmh, looking up #ChimeraLinux... The DE on the live ISO is Gnome. *Sigh*But I saw there's also a base ISO and I read you can Install another DE from there later cleanly... So, that's probl. my way then...

@Tionisla okay, since you are not the first person to say something along those lines, let me ask - what is it that annoys you so much about what comes with the default isos? i've never seen any gnome user be like "sigh, plasma" or whatever when looking at other distributionsnobody is taking your preferences away as no desktop is forced on you (not even with the graphical iso for that matter) so why complain about it?

@q66 sorry to have bothered you. Use whatever DE you see fit for your distro. You know, for me a live ISO is good way to get a first impression and get a feeling of the distro. I fear trying out chimera on a DE I don't feel comfortable with is not giving it a fair shot.I heard good things about chimera today, thought I might see if I like it. As I said I do appreciate there's a base install iso to set up how I like it.🤷‍♀️

@Tionisla it's not about me being bothered or anything, i'm mostly curious about what is going on in people's headsgnome has been good for us because it's small (all of it incl glib+gtk takes less time/resources than just qt6base alone and components update separately), easy to package/update, consistent, and has good wayland supportwhat you end up installing is up to you (even with graphical iso, as the installation does not have to match) but we can't ship images with every single desktop

@psykose @Tionisla nothing unsolvable probably (right now images/isos generally only use main/ packages except when needed for hardware support but that's not a hard requirement, also it'd need xorg on the iso because sddm is scuffed with wayland and it'd need live initramfs setup bits written, and it'd add like 5GB per imageset to repo storage and make generation times somewhat longer)

@psykose @Tionisla i added plasma image support (with sddm) into the image generation scripts (https://github.com/chimera-linux/chimera-live/commit/4c984fabd6f764aee0103fff087b5515d43615f2)seems like it'd be more than 5GB, as the plasma image has nearly double the package count compared to gnome image (and measures 1.6GB compared to 1.1GB with gnome, so that's 1.6 * 5 == 8GB)
