       @peterdutoitI wish anyone cared or would be remotely willing to endure any level of austerity at all while the developing world embraces cars, jet flight, meat eating, A/C and fast fashion becomes even faster and more disposable!

       @chris there are people in all countries - including developing - that need to dial back their energy usage so that everyone can enjoy a decent living standard, as illustrated here.

       @peterdutoitYeah, zero people will do that willingly so I guess there need to be either strong enforcement or the prices need to be jacked up intentionally so that only really rich people (not the plebes) can afford to vacation, eat meat, cool and heat their homes, buy lots and lots of pretty crap for their bodies and homes. I mean, that won't really effect the wealthy at all, though. People riot over austerity measures and put in Populist capitalists as direct results.
