       * Keep a toothbrush at your desk or wherever you relax alone. Brush your teeth sitting down. You do not need to stand in front of the sink and stare in the mirror. (then get up to rinse)* If you think toothpaste tastes nasty you are NOT alone. Nothing wrong with using "kid's" toothpaste and these are often the best.* Water picks are a lot better and some are compact, rechargeable and won't clutter your bathroom. They also get out food particles flossing can miss.

@futurebird@sauropods.wi if you use Florida you shouldn't rinse. Florida tales about 20 minutes to be absorbed into teeth.

@futurebird Strongly agree about the water floss. It's much more effective, and reaches places the floss can't get at, with minimal irritation.

@jrdepriest That was the biggest problem with looking for a mild toothpaste so many don't have fluoride and frankly ... what's the point then?Searching for "anti-cavity" toothpaste will turn up those with fluoride since I think they must have it to use that phrase.

@futurebird I buy Dr. Jen's strawberry nHAp (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9102186/) toothpaste for my partner who can't abide mint, and I get the mint superpaste that contains both fluoride and nHAp.

@blogdiva The brushing is the most important part according to my dentist, the fluoride in toothpaste is next most important. So not using paste one might miss out on that, but he also said using a fluoride mouth wash and no paste would be just as good.

🛎️ 🛎️ 🛎️ exactly!i was one of the people at Colgate-Palmolive writing the training materials on this back in the 1990s 🤓 learned a lot about how pharma (cuz CP is a pharmaceutical masquerading as a soap company) finagles the truth for marketing. it's why i never touched anything with triclosan and was finally vindicated 20 years later. @futurebird

@futurebird@sauropods.win Some piece of medical advise would tell me it would make it more effective if one let toothpaste remain in the mouth instead of rinse once finished.I mean, do you (the author of that advise) think we rinse because we don't know that??? :nachoneko_8:

@Orca I think this is why there is mouth wash?I just assumed people rinse because they don't like the taste and texture of toothpaste. You are correct that it may be better to just leave the fluoride on the teeth longer.
