A publishing company I worked for back in May still haven't paid me, more than 2 months after the invoice was submitted. It's currently in hand as a priority, apparently. Paying an invoice more than 30 days late _should_ require statutory interest - do I just need to remind them of that, or do I need to do anything fancy?

@TetZoo Definitely be the noisy wheel. Don't be a nut, but do ding them at least every 30 days, in writing, and by phone if you can handle it. Be professional, but firm. Been in your shoes with a book packager who was stiffing me and a bunch of other writers, as it turns out, AND WAS CHEATING MARVEL. I did finally get a partial payment, and the publish was eventually HIT BY A BUS! So, cosmic justice.

@TetZoo BTW, you do not say what kind of publisher, but in my experience, book and magazine publishers just traditionally run slow, right or wrong. 30-60 days isn't time to panic, unless you have other reasons to be concerned. 90 days plus, something is not right. Turn up the pressure, and if the payment is worth the trouble, start looking for info from others who may have dealt with them.

@TetZoo can't you file a formal complaint at this point? I've known others suing publishers for less.

@TetZoo My God are you trying to bankrupt Trump. That is his MO.BTW. During the transition from engineers running the company to accountants, some genius come with the following bill payment method: The 30 days until payment started upon the end of the month the began the invoice was received in Seattle. (Includes USPS and internal Boeing time)When their D&B rating dropped so far they could no longer finance aircraft sales or get timely deliveries on supplies. They changed the policy, but did not fire the then CFO.

@WilliamBabey My problem with these kinds of suggestions (which I appreciate, thank you) is that you're talking about losing days of life/paying work to something with an uncertain outcome. I can't do that.... I mean, who can?

@TetZoo I must sadly recognize the obstacles and I apologize for my candidness.
