Today my nephew said "he says 'poggers' like an old man" then turned to me and asked "did you say 'pog' when you were young, auntie?"...Now I don't live under a rock... but I *thought* "poggers" WAS what the young people said ... now... but I guess it's for "old men" ...I bluff "Oh yeah yeah all the time." Not technically a lie since I'm so damn old that I played with "pogs" (milk caps)Hope I've planted a landmine that will fill some thirty-something with despair soon.

What *are* the young people saying? Time is a flat circle so it seems like it's "let's gooooo" but in a kind of low key soft voice. Which is very funny. I approve. What are the youths saying in your neck of the woods?

@futurebird I hear a lot of "yeet!" and "yeeeeeee" from the 17 year old. 21 year old will say "sick" or "wild" for something that's good. Mostly my kids are fairly outside the loop, I think.

@futurebird my kids struggle with learning French, which is one of the languages here in Belgium.So I was amazed they were saying "a l'aise" (take it easy) a lot. But then I learned that they write it as alz, and have no clue it is French.

@futurebird Well played! Cringe was last season, I got that, just as it faded away. Now its scibidy, rizzler, sigma, and I can't remember which one is which. The youngest ones have decided to learn Korean and are suddenly stretching and touching grass a lot. I'm officially old now. One of them said "OK Boomer" to me, while my _parents_ whom I pushed away from violently are the boomers! 😿

@futurebird it comes form PogChamp, which is an emote in twitch chat, as in you type it to make the emote appear. It’s some early streamer’s face. People used to use it depict something spectacular happening, like the streamer getting a difficult kill etc.PogChamp evolved to pog, became a meme in itself with mostly sarcastic uses, grew derivatives like poggers.

@401matthall @Orthia @F100 I suspect you are being humorous, but I have had to explain this to some younger people, so I will do so here in case anyone is reading the thread who needs to know. A pension is a guaranteed income (often monthly) after you retire for life. It's often based on a percentage eg. 75% of your average income 3 years before your retire. There is often a minimum age to retire. Unions negotiated for pensions and they have their own huge trusts to pay everyone.
