@ErikUden last time I checked there were like *checks notes* 1 million active users? As much as I'd like the fediverse to be mission critical, this is still a niche medium. Let's be realistic: if you want to build a voter coalition of millions of people, you have to communicate where the masses are and that is currently on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube – not Mastodon. Yes, I'd like to live in a world in which Mastodon is the most relevant social media platform, but we're not there yet.

@ErikUden There are actual millions of bots for both parties, sadly. Not even gonna mention the undeclared paid influencers.It's a PR strategy deployed by most political orgs & campaigns around the world now. I hope the development of Fediverse moderation capabilities will be able to suppress the effects of these in the future.
