@futurebird I learned many things about science, evolution, paleontology, and natural history from Stephen J. Gould. But I never learned a thing about baseball.Therefore, baseball, indoors or out, is more complex and esoteric than any of those topics.

@futurebird Because it's more difficult to enjoy/complain about the weather and ignore the game when you're indoors?(I've been to a few outdoor ball games, and I don't think I've ever actually watched a game. I always end up looking at the field immediately *after* something apparently interesting has happened.)

@futurebird 😆 Ooh, a challenge!Can I take the metaphor that far?Actual baseball is more esoteric indoors because the audience is paying attention.Inside baseball is more esoteric than public decision making because they don't want the audience to pay attention and find out it's all vibes and payola.I think it's an inverse relationship - inside baseball is more complex because the audience can't see for themselves, and I can't see for myself at a ballgame when I'm outdoors!
