@harris What about the women who wanted to have kids, but it was too difficult and became a trade off between health v. having the kid? It they choose health are they in the insult group too or nah? Just how bad do the health impacts need to be before it is "OK" to make the call?What if it's mental health that's at issue? Would that be a "not real" enough issue?What if it's not mental health but simple emotional well being?Please make a chart and explain how we can grade every woman.

@harris What does it mean to "try" to have kids? Who is trying hard enough? Do we need a government monitor to see if couples are *really* trying? A totally meaningless distinction that hopes to placate the millions of people who want kids, yet, in the end, those who try and fail are no different from those who never wanted kids at all in this framework: there is no way to separate these groups that isn't...creepy.Either a woman did what she was intended to do (make babies) OR she did not.

People like Peterson have come out and said ... point blank that only by locking everyone, including LGBTQ folk into "traditional marriages" by making divorce hard and limiting the options of women can the ravenous hunger of lonely young men be satisfied. Then he rattles off a bunch of threats about how such men will lead to social collapse if not appeased.

A dehumanizing view of young men, an inhuman view of women. A view of people that ... strips away so much, that has so little faith in others. It's really depressing stuff.

@DEDGirl @EdCates @pencilears @harris Nearly every happy marriage I know of *personally* has something "wrong" with it by conservative standards: no kids, gay, trans partner(s), gay kid, trans kid, interracial, adopted kids, stay at home dad...I do know a few couples who happen to tick all of their boxes-- but they are the minority oddly enough and HALF of them are unhappy. (Not saying it never works but ... IDK let people do what they want maybe?)

I have never entertained the idea of a government contract binding myself to a man for the duration of my life.
